I can’t believe 365 days have passed. Today is already 1st January 2011.

2010 was definitely a great year for me. I still remember on 1st January 2010 I wrote in my blog that 2010 will be a breakthrough year for me. True enough, indeed 2010 was a remarkable year for me. Here are some reasons why

1. Being involved in many Women-related activities

2. Launched my very first Women-Only Programme – 'Women Extraordinaire'  and 'I am Woman' workshop

3. Created positive impact for many people on various topics that I shared on my public seminars

4. Contributed back to society by sharing my thoughts and experiences at various Policy Forums in Singapore and also through my non-profit intiative, Project: Pay It Forward, for many schools and universities.  

5. Being blessed with tons of  M edia Coverage. I was featured every single month in various newspapers and magazines. Amazing!

6. Not to forget, being invited to talk LIVE on-air in various  R adio Shows

7. Received numerous awards too, My Paper Executive Look Readers' Choice Award 2010, LG Life's Good Ambassador, and Great Women of Our Time Award 2010.

8.  Being a firm believer in continuous learning, I set aside time to learn new skill, which is definitely important. I was very fortunate that my friends: Fabian Lim, Simon Leung & Jo Han Mok invited me and my husband to sit in their courses. In total, I invested 9 full days of my life learning the real secret of Internet Marketing from the Internet Guru. Great Stuff !!  

I also took an Image Certification Course. I'm now officially a Certified Image Consultant.

I teach color analysis, body analysis, face analysis, make up, and many others in my 'I Am Woman' public workshop.

9. Had fun with my Dream Team in MRO, Merry Riana Organization. :)

10. Enjoyed a long holiday with my family, my in-laws and of course, my dearest husband.

11. And last but not least, I'm proud that I was able to nurture my daughter, spent & enjoyed much time with her, and watched her grow with my own eyes, every single day.

There are many other great moments in 2010. It is definitely impossible for me to list all one by one. (You can refer to my previous blog post if you want) 

Oups… I almost forget one more great moment in my 2010. Someone actually painted a picture of me on Canvas. And that someone is my talented friend, Ocean Wang :)

2011 will be a MIRACLE YEAR !  I believe there will be even more breakthroughs, more opportunities, more friends and much more Life's Good Moments to experience & enjoy. 

I'm fully prepared for all that.

At this moment, I've already in the midst of some interesting and exciting projects. Can't wait to finish and officially launch them to all of you

Last week I was invited by the Beautiful Celebrity Coach/Publicist, Christina Liang to come to her Christmas High Tea Party.
 

The theme was Pink/Black Christmas.
 

It was an afternoon full of beautiful Ladies. I was sitted next to two Miss Singapore Universe, Jade Seah and Annabel Tan hahahah..
 

Anyway, It was a nice surprise to meet my friend, Annabel. We just chatted over sms not long ago, little did I know I bumped into her again at the Christmas Party. Law of attraction !

Need to have faith?
 

We already have faith, the only thing is where we place it.
 

I recently heard this analogy about faith. It says that "Faith is at the heart of life. You go to a doctor whose name you cannot pronounce, He gives you a prescription you cannot read. You take it to a pharmacist you have never seen. He gives you a medicine you do not understand and yet you take it."  Now, that is living by faith !
 

We all have faith. In fact every day we act on beliefs that have little or no evidence to back them up. Every day, we are living by faith. When you on the light switch, you put faith in the electrical wiring. When you mail a letter you have faith in the SingPost (Singapore Post Service).
 

And that is also true in a spiritual sense. Just as one person has faith that God is real, an atheist has faith that there is no God. Both people hold strong beliefs, and neither person can produce evidence to absolutely prove his point of view. Right now, you already have faith in something.

I'm grateful that I grew up in a family that filled with faith. Since young, my parents always thought me to always have faith in God. Turns out, that simple lesson has really brought me to be where I am right now.
 

Even from the latest Sunday Times interview about me and my mom, She also shared the same thing.

As we get closer to the beginning of 2011. Yesterday, I did a reflection of my life in 2010 and counted my blessings. What an amazing year that I have !  And I believe I have come this far by faith, trusting, and leaning on God. And through it all through joy and pain, through sunshine and rain, it was God who brought me through.

There are some things in life you will arrive at only through faith.

I thank God for everything that He has done for me. And as much as I've been blessed, I hope this sharing of mine will bring blessings into your life too.

In this cyber society, I believe there are more and more people who buy things online. Simply because it opens 24 hrs, and it is very convenient.

I recently got to know about an online shopping site 12buy.sg when I came for their launch event.  

The founder, Peifen is such a friendly and smart woman. She shared with me about her online shop.

Flip Mino HD is an awesome video recording device. In the past few weeks, I’ve been posting video regularly on my YouTube channel. Thanks to Flip that allows fuss-free video recording.

2 weeks ago (1st Dec 2010), I get a chance to be one of the first few people in Singapore to watch the premiere of 'Walking With Dinosaurs'. Thanks to Andrew who gave me 3 complimentary tickets I went together with my husband and my daughter, Alvernia

When Andrew contacted me last month to be a part of his new project, I was very excited.

Andrew is helping an artist who is going to launch a project to paint a number of people who have outstanding social achievement or contribution to the community.

The project is still in the development stage and the best part is the artist (www.OceanTheArtist.com) and Andrew have nominated me to be one of the first ones who is going to be painted with Oil on Canvas. On top of that, the artist, Ocean is generously going to give the painting to me once the project is done.
 

I was so happy and flattered to be chosen. Ocean is someone who is very talented. She appeared in the media a couple of times because of her art work. Look at this amazing work she has.

Beautiful isn't it ??

Never in my imagination that one day someone will paint a picture of me like that. I was extremely excited.

The approach is Conceptual Portrait, and it will capture my finest moment, best mix of personalities and flair. It is a combination of art and photo-journalism.

So I met up with the artist, Ocean. She is simply fantastic. She chatted with me to find out more about my personality and my passion in life. She even came down to one of my seminars to get inspiration and also to get a closer feel on how's life according to Merry Riana is like.

Initially the plan was to have me painted in the huge canvas (1 x 1.6m without the frame) but since I told her that I want to put the painting in my office, I asked her to scale down so that it will fit nicely on my office wall.

Finally, after 30 days of hard work, she finished her painting.

I was soooooo excited to finally see it with my own eyes

2 weeks ago, me and my husband met up with Andrew and Ocean at her place.

And this is it …

Merry Riana on Canvas …

AMAZING !!! Ocean can really translate and summarize my feelings, passions, and purpose in life with just 1 painting.

I was truly amazed and honored at the same time.

After months of selection and judging, finally, just a couple weeks ago, the winners of The Singapore Women's Weekly's Great Women of Our Time Awards 2010 were revealed.

Category winners were selected by three judges: Member of Parliament, Denise Phua, Social Entrepreneur and past winner of the Great Women Of Our Time Awards Norma Sit, and editor-in-chief, The Singapore Women’s Weekly, Tara Barker.

The Gala Dinner was held at the Four Season Hotel. I came together with my husband, Alva. We were so happy to have met many other great and extraordinary women who were also there during the award presentation. (You can see lots of our photos below)

The most memorable moment for me was when I heard my name was announced as the winner.

I’m very fortunate to have won some other awards in the past, most of them to honor successful entrepreneurs. But, I feel extremely blessed to even win this award, because it honors me as a woman, something that I feel especially proud and grateful to be.

Winning this award has also reaffirm my decision about my focus for the next 10 years, i.e. " To create a positive impact to the lives of 1,000,000 people, especially Women in Asia"

Thank you again, Singapore Women's Weekly for giving me this prestigous award !

I am going to ask you to something very weird right now. First of all, I want you to listen to your thoughts. Now tell me, what thoughts fill your head? Would you label them as positive, or negative?

Now let's say you are walking down the street with these thoughts. Do you think anyone who would meet you would be able to tell you what’s on your mind?

The answer to number one is up to you. But, the answer number two can be pretty generic. Although people will not be able to tell you exactly what you think, they will more or less have an idea of how you are feeling.

Here's another question. When you enter a party filled with friends, do they all fall silent as if something terrible had happened? Or does everybody there perk up as if waiting for something exciting to happen?

You know what? The answer to all these depends on your frame of mind.

Thoughts are very powerful. They affect your general attitude. The attitude you carry reflects on your appearance, too – unless, of course, you are a great actor.

And it doesn't end there. Your attitude can also affect people around you.

The type of attitude you carry depends on you. It can be either positive or negative.

Positive thoughts have a filling effect. They are admittedly energizing. When you are positive, people around you are usually energized too. It is contagious.

Negative thoughts on the other hand have a sapping effect on other people. Aside from making you look gloomy and sad, negative thoughts can turn a happy gathering into a funeral wake.

A positive attitude attracts people, while a negative attitude repels them. People tend to shy away from those who carry a negative attitude.

We can also define attitude as the way of looking at the world. If you choose to focus on the negative things in the world, more or less you have a negative attitude brewing up. However, if you choose to focus on the positive things, you are more likely carry a positive attitude.

You have much to gain from a very positive attitude. Studies have shown that a positive attitude promotes better health. Those with this kind of attitude also have more friends. projecting a positive attitude also helps one to handle stress and problems better than those who have a negative attitude.

A positive attitude begins with a healthy self-image. If you will love the way you are and are satisfied, confident, and self-assured, you also make others are around feel the same way.

A negative attitude, on the other hand, has, of course, an opposite effect. So, carrying a negative attitude has a twofold drawback. You feel bad about yourself, and you make others feel the same way.

At this point in time, you might be asking, If positive attitude is really great, why do people choose to adopt a negative attitude instead? Well, some times, those  who carry a negative attitude may be actually sending a signal for attention. Don't get me wrong, feeling sad, angry, or gloomy is not wrong itself. But dwelling on these thoughts for far too long is not healthy either. There is a time to mourn.

You do not have much to lose by adopting a healthy, positive attitude. Studies show that such an attitude actually retards aging, makes you healthier, helps you develop a better stress coping mechanism, and has a very positive effect on all the people you meet every day. So, what's not to like about a positive attitude? Adopt one today.
